your clients’ Stablish Foundation Donor-Advised Funds.
A Donor-Advised Fund is a simple, flexible, tax-efficient way for your clients to support their favorite charities and potentially grow their donations over time. Think of it as a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations your clients care about.
Key characteristics of a Donor-Advised Fund include:
- Maintained and operated by a section 501(c)(3) organization, like Stablish Foundation, which is the sponsoring organization.
- The sponsoring organization has legal control of donations to the fund. However, the donor or the donor's representative retains advisory privileges with respect to the distribution of funds and the investment of assets in the account. Donations are 100% deductible in the year they are made.
- Capital gains taxes on the sale of highly appreciated assets can be avoided by donating them to a Donor-Advised Fund.
- Gifts to designated charities do not have to be made during the same tax year as donations.
- Gifts must be made to charities with the IRS certified 501(c)3 status.
